Slanting stitches#
Slanted stitches are optional. You can design an entire pattern with just single and double crochet, but slanting smooths out diagonal edges and gives freely drawn designs a more natural look. See also Supported stitch types.
There are three places where you can apply slanting.
While drawing#
Turn on the Use slanted stitches toggle to slant stitches automatically as you draw.
A single stitch#
Use the Slant stitch option, then click an individual stitch to slant it — handy for smoothing out a single sharp corner.
A selection#
With a selection active, use Apply slanting to slant the selected stitches, or Undo slanting to revert them.
Undo slanting vs. apply slanting
Starting from plain single/double crochet, Apply slanting then Undo slanting returns you to the original stitches. But if your selection already contained slanted stitches, Undo slanting followed by Apply slanting may not reproduce them exactly. To revert a change you just made, prefer the Undo function in the lower left corner or through the Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z keyboard shortcut.
Slanting and reversible patterns
Keep in mind that slanting limits one thing for the crocheter: a pattern can only be followed as a reversible pattern when it doesn't use slanted stitches. If you want your design to work reversibly, leave slanting off.
