Pattern properties

Every pattern has a small set of core properties: its name, its dimensions, and its color scheme. You can set these when you create a pattern and change them at any time afterwards from the pattern's properties panel.

Name

Give your pattern a descriptive name. This is the name shown in your CromoDesigner workspace and to crocheters in CromoViewer. You can rename a pattern at any time without affecting its content.

Dimensions

A pattern's dimensions are measured in stitches: a width (number of columns) and a height (number of rows). The width you specify does not include the two border stitches — one on the left and one on the right — that are automatically added to every pattern.

Note that changing the dimensions resizes the working area. Increasing them adds empty cells; reducing them trims cells from the edges, so be careful not to cut off part of your design.

Color scheme

Choose between two color schemes for your design:

• Black on white — a dark motif on a light background, the default.
• White on black — a light motif on a dark background.

This determines which color is treated as the background and which as the foreground throughout the editor. You can switch between the two at any time.

While the design work is being done in black and white, you will be able to choose any design and background color for the preview and the generated outputs

Advanced properties

Two further properties have their own dedicated pages:

• Tileable pattern — make a pattern repeat seamlessly so it can be tiled.
• Non-rectangular pattern — work with patterns that aren't a plain rectangle.
